The goal of Megunticook Riverkeepers (MRK) is to mobilize public awareness and private support for improving the environment of the Megunticook River.

After years of study, the Megunticook River Citizens Advisory Committee (MRCAC) recommended that removing Montgomery Dam will allow for responsible stewardship of the Megunticook River and is the cost effective path forward for taxpayers.
Removing the dam will reduce flood threats to both public and private property.
Detailed studies have concluded that dam removal would lower water levels and create a more resilient buffer to uncertain future flow conditions in the river as flooding becomes more frequent in the coming years.
Removing Montgomery Dam will expand a corridor for fish and wildlife—between the mountains and the sea.
